Print-On-Demand
Print-On-Demand is a service by which each copy of a book or periodical can be printed one at a time. CinnamonTeal Print & Publishing Services have introduced this service for the first time in India. Print-On-Demand avoids the need for any inventory as the books are printed only after an order is placed. This means that if traditional publishers cannot justify investments of 1000 copies, the books are still published. Typically, the Print-On-Demand option is chosen when the book caters to a limited, niche audience. Further, in the absence of any upfront charges, the author is free to invest money into marketing the book and other such promotional activities.
The process works thus:
a. The author submits a completed manuscript to CinnamonTeal (see http://www.cinnamontealbooks.com for details on the requirements of a complete manuscript). The manuscript can be in electronic form or in hard copy (in which case there will be a charge for typing). Additional services such as editing, proofreading and graphical illustrations can also be obtained for a fee. To submit a complete manuscript in electronic form, there is no fee.
b. During submission, the author is requested to specify the size of the book and submit the cover design as well. She/he is also requested to mention the revenue she/he wishes to earn per book. While we do not charge any upfront fee, we do charge you 20% of your profits only on each sale that is made. For costs per book and revenue generation, do visit http://www.dogearsetc.com/cinnamonteal/pricing.html
c. Upon submission of the manuscript, the book is listed for sale on Dogears Etc., the online bookstore (see http://www.dogearsetc.com/)
d. Whenever a sale is made, the book is printed, bound and dispatched. Everything is managed by CinnamonTeal and at the end of every month, the author gets a report on sales made that month and a cheque for the earnings that month.
e. Volume discounts can be obtained for purchases greater than 25 copies and author discounts can also be availed of
f. Every author whose book is listed gets a personal webpage and blog to market the book.
